Hop the Plank 4-H Chicken & Rabbit Show!

Beaufort County 4-H will be holding a Chicken & Rabbit Show at Bath Fest behind the Bonner House on Saturday, May 9, 2026 at 10:30 am. This show is an open show and is not limited to just Beaufort County youth.

Youth ages 5-18 are welcome to enter and show their own rabbits by filling out the Hop the Plank Chicken & Rabbit Show Registration Form by April 17.

Registration Fee will be $10 per species shown. Checks can be made out to the Beaufort County 4-H Fund. Payment is due to the Cooperative Extension Office located at 155-A Airport Rd. Washington, NC 27889 by April 24.

All animals are subject to a health check to assess for ear mites, pasturella, scours, sore hock, and other contagious diseases. Animals showing signs of any illness or parasite will not be allowed to show. All animals should have been in North Carolina for 30 days prior to the show date, with no signs of illness in that 30 days.

Requirements for rabbits:

- 10 weeks or older on the show date - Pass health check - Animals sex and age will be confirmed during the health check - Rabbits that are not tattooed may have their ears marked with sharpie at the show

Requirements for Chickens:

- Must have owned the chicken for at least 30 days prior to the show - Pass health check

Optional Animal Books

If you complete one of these books and turn it in at the end of the year, your child will receive an award at our annual 4-H Achievement Night.
