Register now for this event at the N.C. Cooperative Extension, Beaufort County Center!
We have an all-star group of speakers this year from NC State University! Space will be limited, early registration is highly suggested. This event will be held in the auditorium of the N.C. Cooperative Extension, Beaufort County Center, Tuesday, January 29, 2019, at 155 Airport Road in Washington, NC 27889. We will begin promptly at 10 a.m. and the day will end around 4:30 p.m.
Matt Martin (NC State University) will present on insect and disease pressure and control in warm-season turf. This update will include the identification of insect damage, disease damage, and research findings on control methods. Matt will speak from 10 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Lunch will be served as a part of the registration for this event from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Travis Gannon (NC State University) will present measures to increase pesticide efficacy to ensure you are getting the quality and coverage to serve your clientele. Travis will also go over some of the bad press and science surrounding glyphosate and other standard landscape chemistries. The goal is to help you help your clients through weeding out what is true and what is unsubstantiated in the news. This presentation will begin at 1 p.m.–2:30 p.m.
Fred Yelverton will present weed identification and control in warm-season turf. This presentation will include updates on herbicides and efficacy information. This presentation will begin after a short 15-minute break at 2:45–4:15 p.m. The day will end with NCLCLB attendance rolls being handed out.
N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services Pesticide credits with endorsements D(5), N(5), L(5), X(3.5), O(2.5), B(1.5), H(1.5) have been approved. There will also be five (5L) credits for the NC Landscape Contractors Licensing Board CEU’s. Please make certain to have the proper documentation with you on the day of the event to receive credit. The licensee may only receive credit if he or she is in attendance.
This Turf Update will provide lunch and educational materials. You may register by using the link below or over the phone by calling (252) 946-0111. Pre-registration will be incomplete unless the $15.00 registration fee is received in the N.C. Cooperative Extension of Beaufort County office by close of business Friday, January 25. Registration fee is non-refundable. Fee is payable through cash or check, made out to Extension Fund. Late Registration at the door will be excepted the day of the event, but cost will be $25.00 the day of the event.
