Please come out to the Beaufort County Cooperative Extension Center to support our Extension Master Gardener℠ volunteers Saturday, 4/29 from 9 a.m.-12 p.m.! The Extension Master Gardener Plant Sale is a great event that raises money for educational programs, educational materials, and the EMGV demonstration garden here at the Beaufort County Extension Center. In addition to plants, there will be yard art/crafts and on-going and self-paced educational opportunities.
The Extension Master Gardener℠ volunteer program is here to help the residents of Beaufort County with their home horticulture questions and to provide valuable educational programs. Volunteers are interviewed and trained through N.C. Cooperative Extension and work under Area Extension Consumer Horticulture Agent Gene Fox. EMG program volunteers are trained in several areas of horticulture through a series of 13 instructional classes and complete a 40 hour internship. Volunteers speak at educational programs, answer home horticulture questions through the EMGV Hotline (252)946-0111 and at The Washington Farmers’ Market, maintain the onsite demonstration garden, promote N.C. Cooperative Extension, and help walk-in clients with all of their home horticultural needs. The next EMGV training will begin in January 2018.
