Blackland Farm Managers Tour August 3rd in Engelhard

The 2016 Blackland Tour will be held at Middle Creek Farms (396 White Plains Road, Engelhard). Registration will open at 7:00 a.m. After registration, please head to the field to visit with the vendors and enjoy a sausage wrap! Field sessions will begin promptly at 8:00 a.m. Jump on a wagon or walk to the tour stop of your choice. A map will be provided in the tour book that will help guide you to each tour stop. Lunch will be served from 10:30 a.m.-11:45 p.m., please grab lunch in between sessions!

Stop #1:

-Dr. Ron Heiniger – Emergence Study & High Yield Systems Test

-Scott Tilley – Sorghum Varieties

-Dr. Sriyanka Lahiri – Worm Control in Soybeans

-Dr. Alejandro Del Pozo-Valdivia – Seedling Insects in Corn

Stop #2:

-Dr. Jim Dunphy – Maximum Yield Tests & Non-Foliar Test

-Dr. Carl Crozier

-Dr. David Hardy – Soybean Potassium Research

-Anna-Beth Williams – Potassium Studies

Stop #3:

-Dr. Chad Poole – Drainage

-Dr. Wes Everman – Resistance Management

-Rod Gurganus – Various agent test plots

Stop #4:

(9:30-10:30 and 11:00-12:00 only)

-LaMarr Graft – Grain Bin Safety

8:00-9:00 a.m. – Session #1

9:00-9:30 a.m. – Break – Look at test plots, talk to specialists, & make your way to the next stop!

9:30-10:30 a.m. – Session #2

10:30-11:00 a.m. – Break – Look at test plots, talk to specialists, & make your way to the next stop!

11:00 – 12:00 p.m. – Session #3

12:00 – 12:30 p.m. – Break – Look at test plots, talk to specialists, & make your way to the metal building at the shop!

1:00 p.m. – Welcome from the BFMA, introductions, & Dr. Chad Lee (Grain Crops Extension Agronomist, University of Kentucky)

Pesticide credits (N, D, X, and O) and CCA credits (1 Nutrient Management & 3 Crop Management) will be available!
